Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?
The New King James Version (Nashville: Thomas Nelson, 1982), Mt 6:27.
Adrian Rogers says that he is reminded of the little lady who said, “Don’t tell me worry doesn’t do any good. Most of the things I worry about never happen.” The point is missed but the outcome is true. Most of the things that we worry about don’t come to fruition but that’s not because we worry about them but because they were never worthy of worry.
Worry is an expression of unbelief. A lack of faith. How’s that? Well, Phillipians 4:6-7 says:
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Worry is directly against what God has commanded us to do. He tells us that IF we follow HIS guidance HE will guard our hearts and minds with HIS peace which is beyond understanding. I don’t know about you but understanding the mystery of God’s peace is not important as long as I am being guarded by it.
