For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
The New King James Version (Nashville: Thomas Nelson, 1982), 1 Jn 5:4.
If you aren’t active in your faith then most likely you are gong to be practicing Jello-theology. Your faith is shaky and moves all over the place. Most likely there is little consistency and doubt is the norm.
Consistency and being engaged is the key to strong faith. In order to raise our “Shield of Faith” we must be consistent in prayer, daily bible reading, and gathering with others with the same goal. All too often when Christians consistently go into a slump and develop a defeatest attitiude a lack of consitency and a habit of isolation exists. The typical answer when asked how their quiet time (time with the Lord, doesnt have to be silent) is going they respond with “I’m behind” or “I’ve missed a few devotions”. Sometimes they proclaim that they’re watching services from home when they are fully capable of attending in person. I’m not pointing fingers at the people here but ponting out the mindset.
There are too many things in this world that want to make you “conform” to the world and look like everyone else. Without the intentional practice of your faith it will go stale. With continued isolation it will be forgotten.
Victory is yours and mine. However, there is no time to coast and celebrate becasue the world is at our heels. If we become stagnant and complacent, the world will try to overtake us.
