20 For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.
The New King James Version (Nashville: Thomas Nelson, 1982), 2 Co 1:20.
In the person of Jesus, exist the promises of God. He is the image of the invisible God. He is the Word. He is the Savior. I could go on and on. He is God. What is the will of God the Father is also in His son.
We pray “thy will be done” and we know that it will be accomplished. And those things that God has promised will come about because of His faithfulness and He has an impeccable track record of delivery. So why do we pray as the Godly men of the Bible did for God to do what He has promised to accomplish?
When we say Amen at the end of a prayer we mean to say “I agree” or “let it be so”. We are in agreement. We are unified in that gratitude or petition and we seal it with an “Amen”. We pray in faith that God listens and what was said aligns with His will. That’s why we pray for God’s promises to come to fruition even though we know they will. We are in agreement. We can only do this because we are in Christ and He is in us. His Spirit and our spirit agree. Our desire is to see the will of God accomplished. Amen.
